An Interview with Nick Paciorek

On Tuesday August 9, 2008, Elizabeth Sawtelle interviewed Nick Paciorek, contemporary Providence artist, who is Bert Gallery’s featured pocket show artist for September. The following is an interview with Nick Paciorek and his wife Michele, both of whom are artists.

Though he grew up in Chicago and graduated form Maryland Institute’s College of Art, he has settled in Rhode Island, crediting the area with providing a wealth of subject matter for his paintings. Best known for his vibrant cityscapes and brilliant portrayal of light and color, Paciorek continues to impress with his newest pieces.

The theme of this exhibit is “Night at the Theater”, Paciorek’s newest body of work, and will showcase theaters in Rhode Island and New York. He uses bright colors and strong lines to evoke the light and energy of these iconic images. As an artist, he has always been interested in how light sets the tone and creates the mood of a scene. He is able to capture the excitement and vitality of the city after dark. The personality of Providence is reflected in its theaters with the familiar faces of the Providence Performing Arts Center, Trinity Repertory Company, and the Avon Cinema.

This show will be on view at Bert Gallery from September 9th through October 3rd.
