On Saturday, July 19th Arthur Bert, a collector and friend of Frank Gasbarro, interviewed the abstract painter. The discussion ranged from Gasbarro’s thirty-year career as a painter, thoughts on art and his new August exhibition at Bert Gallery.
A Rhode Islander by birth and self-taught painter, Gasbarro uses the forum of his artwork to engage the world around him in a personal dialogue. He strives to maintain what he calls “creative momentum- intense painting sessions, intense interactions with others.” He took a five-year hiatus from painting and the work on exhibit is his latest creation.
Gasbarro began showing his work at Bert Gallery in 1984. He has had over 50 exhibits at 40 locations including the Newport Art Museum, Butler Institute of American Art, Currier Gallery of Art and Whistler House Museum. He is in several public and private collections including GTECH, St. Peter & Kasle, Currier Gallery of Art, Meeting Street Café, Adler Pollock & Sheehan and Solian.
