Prophet Talk.April 19

Prophet Talk.April 19

Special lecture on the remarkable African American Sculptor, Nancy Prophet (1890 – 1960).

Nancy Prophet, despite the dearth of sculptures still in existence, remains Rhode Island’s most talented sculptor. Three of her rare works are owned by the RISD Museum of Art and are a must see.

I will be presenting at the Stages of Freedom a talk on the life of Nancy Prophet, her body of work, the obstacles she faced as an African American and as a woman from the varying perspectives of the art world; museums, galleries and the market place.

Ray Rickman will be discussing Edward Bannister. Below are details and link for registrations. An intimate venue – limit of 45 seats.
