Artists Who Marry Artists Exhibit Now Open!

The new exhibit, Artist who Marry Artists, just opened this week at Bert Gallery. Over 38 pieces of art are on display.

leifseaside-truro-cape-cod300.jpgThe evolution of style is clear when comparing husband and wife, Gordon Peers (1909 - 1988) and Florence Leif (1913 - 1968). Examples from the 1930’s to the 1960’s show the similarities in subject matter but the differences in painting techniques, Leif with vigorous strokes and a colorful pallete, Peers with a careful and methodical application of paint on canvas.

Grace Albee (1890 - 1985) demonstrates her superb technique and singular focus in wood engraving which earned her a national reputation and multiple museum shows. Percy Albee (1883 - 1959) has a more relaxed, personal approach to his subjects which range from Gloucester fisherman to peasants in the French countryside.albee-p-brittany-boats300.jpg

AND WHAT ABOUT THOSE PODCASTS?
Well, the best way to hear the podcasts of the various programs is to visit the blog main page and download to itunes. We are still trying to figure out how to get the e-mail blasts to contact directly but so far not much success. Sorry for the hassle - but being a half a century old the learning curve on these computers is much longer than a few decades ago!
